What does fleet insurance cover?
Commercial fleet insurance will cover liability and physical damage for all of your rental car business vehicles. This includes cars, buses, vans, SUVs and trucks – any car from your fleet of rental cars. Vehicles insured under a fleet insurance plan also include provisions that allow employees of your rental car business to drive any vehicle in your fleet and be covered in the case of an accident.
How many vehicles constitute a fleet? That answer varies depending on the fleet insurance provider. Some fleet insurance providers may require 5 or more vehicles, while others will insure your fleet with as few as two cars.
What type of fleet insurance do you need?
ARRC has access to various levels of fleet insurance coverage that will provide enough collision and liability to meet your state’s insurance requirements for your commercial car rental fleet. You can then add on other options to your fleet insurance such as increased liability limits, roadside assistance, uninsured motorists coverage and comprehensive coverage to protect against theft, vandalism and other vehicular damage.

Car rental business insurance is a necessity to meet your state’s insurance requirements. With the ARRC program, you have access to master policies that provide the liability protection you need. Our liability policies provide bodily injury and property damage coverages that compensate third parties who are injured in an accident involving your rental car, or pay for damages to third-parties’ property that may be damaged.
Also included in the liability policy is the Owner’s policy, which allows employees of your rental car business to drive any vehicle in your fleet and be covered in the event of a third-party bodily injury and/or property damage. Generally, the owner limits are written as a combined single limit (CSL). The following liability coverages are also available, where applicable:
- Personal Injury Protection (PIP)
- Uninsured Motorist Coverage (UM)
- Underinsured Motorist Coverage (UIM)
Physical Damage (Comprehensive & Collision)
When one of your rental cars is involved in an accident, you need it repaired and back on the road as soon as possible. With access through our physical damage program, you can be assured that the carrier’s number-one priority is to quickly respond to your claim and get your rental car back on the road into money-making service. With deductibles starting as low as $1,000, the physical damage program includes:
- Collision – Covers repairs or replacement to your insured rental vehicle resulting from an accident involving other vehicles or stationary objects
- Comprehensive – Pays for damage to your insured rental vehicle from fire, theft, vandalism and other covered perils
Recreational Vehicle (RV) Commercial Coverage
ARRC has access to an insurance carrier who can provide coverage for recreation vehicles such as RVs, travel trailers, motor coaches, pop-up tent trailers, camper vans, fifth-wheel trailers, mounted truck campers, and restoration. Regardless of age or size, ARRC has the carrier to help you cover any RV from top to bottom – with access in all 50 states. ARRC also has access to other types of car rental business insurance coverage.
Counter Product Insurance Coverage
Another way of increasing your daily car rental profit is by offering counter products to your renters. Let us assist you in obtaining the required license from your state for coverage with policies such as:
- Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI)
- Personal Accident Insurance(PAI)
- Personal Effect Coverage(PEC)
These products are point-of-sale (POS) products, so if you don’t sell them, you don’t pay for them. These are great products to offer to your renters, as well as to increase your bottom line!
Garage liability insurance provides coverage for the day-to-day operations of a garage. Dealership and repair shop owners should consider incorporating their businesses in order to limit personal liability. This type of coverage limits the liability exposure of auto dealers, service facilities, and body shops for damage to a customer’s auto or auto equipment while in their care for service or repair.
Worker’s Compensation and Employers’ Liability
Precisely intended for auto rental operators who have employees, worker’s comp and employers’ liability insurance ensure your business and employees are covered.
